Breeding budgerigar's is a life's work full of passion, disappointment and surprises, and that can all happen within a single clutch. Over the year's accurate record keeping in regard to matings and outcomes has come the forefront of my concern having had many expected results completely blown away by the unknown presence of traits that have laid dormant within near perfect birds time and again and have resulted in complete failures and in some cases some unexpected and absolutely wonderful results.

This is what has completely baffled me in the regard to the physical traits within the budgerigar, all the research and careful planning can just be undone by a so called “dormant” trait that just adds to the mystery of breeding outcomes and of course just the opposite can occur whereby the totally unexpected can appear in a clutch that can take your breath away.

Points in colour exceptions and varieties are reasonably predictable however feather direction body and head shape can vary wildly within birds from different genetic lines, hence the development of this application package which over time may assist in building a more complete genetic profile of birds bred and there possible outcomes and hereditary traits.
